Itinerary

Day 1 - Antananarivo - Antsirabe - Ranomafana

Arrive in Antananarivo. Meet and greet your local guide at the designated location, taking you straight to Ranomafana by car. Come across the first beautiful panorama of your journey, the rural villages surrounded by rice fields and a group of local farmers as you travel across the plains of the highlands. Stop by Antsirabe, a thermal city established and developed by Norwegian missionaries, enjoy a delicious meal, and take a look at the beautiful homes in the city center that serve as witnesses to Antsirabe's pleasant times. Then, continue your journey further south heading to Ranomafana. 

Day 2 - Ranomafana National Park

Prepare yourself for a full day of leisure hiking in Ranomafana National Park. Just after breakfast, go for a stroll in the breathtaking tropical rainforest to search for various lemur and chameleon species. Lemur sightings just require patience because the Ranomafana Forest is rather dense and occasionally has slick and rainy ground. Enjoy a midnight forest walk, a feature of many Madagascar national parks, and go search for the rufous mouse lemur and the striped civet, one of the island's few predators. The more elusive forest birds, such as the red-legged ground roller and ground roller that resembles a pitta, as well as the vociferous but elusive yellow-browed oxylabes, Crossley's babbler, and other species, may be seen during a morning bird walk.

Day 3 - Mananjary - Manambato

Begin the day with a scenic journey to Mananjary, passing through spice plantations, fruit trees, and so much more! Then, continue to Manambato, a special destination tucked away in a hard-to-reach village by the edges of a freshwater lake surrounded by a fine sand beach. A visit to Madagascar must include a stop at this lovely location, which offers a calm and serene atmosphere.

Day 4 - Manambato - Tamatave

Spend the day exploring Tamatave, the second largest city in Madagascar! Also known as Tomasina, Tamatave is the economic hub of Madagascar as it is home to many different types of spices including vanilla, coffee, colla, cinnamon, clove, pepper, and cristal ston. With the city comfortably located between the Bay of Ivondro and the vast beach that runs alongside the bay and the Indian Ocean, leisurely stroll around the town, taking in the remnants of its colonial heritage.

Day 5 - Tamatave - Maroantsetra

Get ready for a full day's boat ride to Maroantsetra! Travel to Maroantsetra by wooden boats called "boutres," sometimes known as "lakana," which operate along the Indian Ocean coast. The starting point for many trips on foot, by boat and even sea kayaking, Maroantsetra is a showcase for rare flora and fauna not found anywhere else in the globe, giving you an opportunity to experience the unexplored Madagascar. 

Day 6 - Maroantsetra - Farankaraina

Set off on a guided trek through the Farankaraina Tropical Park in quest for Madagascar's rarest lemur species, Aye-Aye. The best place in all of Madagascar to experience its unique flora and fauna, embark on a thrilling journey taking in the reserve’s natural splendor and visiting the local community. You will also get a chance to see other elusive wildlife creatures including Mouse Lemurs, Sportive Lemurs, Eastern Bamboo Lemurs, and the Ring-Tailed Vontsira up close along the way.

Day 7, 8, 9, 10 - Masoala National Park

Unravel Madagascar's most cherished wildlife, including lemurs, chameleons, birds, and other rare species, for a chance to re-establish a connection with the natural world. One of Madagascar's largest and most varied remaining rainforests, Masoala National Park supports a vast variety of endangered species of both plants and animals. Take in the majestic beauty of Masoala National Park while you explore the park and see some of Madagascar’s rare species, such as  the Madagascar Crested Ibis, Helmeted Vanga, Berniers Vanga, Short Legged Ground Rulers, Leser Bamboo Lemurs, and Pygmy Kingfisher, up close. You will also get to experience some fun outdoor activities, such as swimming and snorkeling, or just simply bask under the sun and enjoy the serene atmosphere by the beach.

Day 11 - Tampolo - Cap Masoala - Cap Est

Experience the wildlife in the rugged rainforest and discover Masoala's majestic natural and wildlife treasures as you journey from Tampolo to Cap-Est! Madagascar has a lot to offer, especially its lush rainforests brimming with unique flora and fauna. Get a chance to see the elusive Red-Ruffed Lemur, Red-Breasted Couas, Chameleons, and other rare wildlife up close. You can also boost your chances of spotting a lot of rare endemic wildlife by going on a late-afternoon walk that lasts into the night. 

Day 12 - Cap Est - Antalaha - Marojejy

Make your way to Marojejy National Park. You will be dropped off in Mandegny Village, where your trek will begin. On foot, it takes 2 to 3 hours to get from Mandegny to Camp Mantella (Camp 1), passing through a number of plantations, rice fields, and Savoka. You might encounter camels, snakes, and a variety of frog species throughout the trip.

Day 13 - Marojejy National Park - Duke University Lemur Study Center and Reserve

Go on a safari excursion and explore the beautiful Marajejy National Park! Get a chance to see Madagascar’s most cherished treasures such as the Silky Sifaka, Northern Bamboo Lemurs, Ring-tailed Vontsiras, Red-breasted Coua, Bernier’s Vanga, and so much more. Take in the reserve’s incredibly diverse wildlife and lush greenery. An ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts to reconnect with nature, admire stunning scenery, and see rare, endemic plants and animals! You will also spot a wide range of chameleons, snakes, and frogs throughout the trip as well as visit the Duke University Lemur Study Center and Reserve to observe different varieties of lemur in their natural habitat. 

Day 14 - Sambava - Antananarivo

End of the journey. Transfer to Sambava Airport to Antananarivo for your onward destination.
