Itinerary

Day 1 - Antananarivo - Antsirabe - Ranomafana

Arrive in Antananarivo. Meet and greet your local guide at the designated location, taking you straight to Ranomafana by car. As you move across the plains of the highlands, you will come across the first lovely scene of your journey: rural settlements surrounded by rice fields and a group of local farmers. Visit the thermal city of Antsirabe, built by Norwegian missionaries, and have a delightful lunch while admiring the lovely residences that stand as remnants of Antsirabe's golden era. After that, continue traveling south toward Ranomafana. 

Day 2 - Ranomafana National Park

Get ready for a long day of leisurely trekking in Ranomafana National Park. Just after breakfast, take a stroll in the spectacular tropical rainforest to look for different lemur and chameleon species. The Ranomafana Forest is relatively dense and occasionally has slick and damp ground, so lemur sightings merely take patience. Experience the thrilling midnight forest walk, a feature of many Madagascar national parks, allowing guests to seek for the rufous mouse lemur and the striped civet, one of the island's few predators. You can also go on an early morning bird walk to observe some of the more elusive forest birds, such the red-legged ground roller, the ground roller that resembles a pitta, the chatty but elusive yellow-browed oxylabes, Crossley's babbler, and other species.

Day 3 - Mananjary - Manambato

Take a picturesque drive to Mananjary to start the day off, going through fruit and spice plantations, among other things. Then, proceed to Manambato, a special place tucked away in a remote village along the shores of a freshwater lake surrounded by a fine sand beach. This beautiful spot, which offers a tranquil and serene ambiance, must be visited when in Madagascar.

Day 4 - Manambato - Tamatave

Spend the day exploring Tamatave, the second largest city in Madagascar! Tamatave, often referred to as Tomasina, is the economic center of Madagascar and is where many different kinds of spices are grown, such as vanilla, coffee, colla, cinnamon, clove, pepper, and cristal ston. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the town, taking in the remains of its colonial past, as it is well situated between the Bay of Ivondro and the broad beach that stretches alongside the bay and the Indian Ocean.

Day 5 - Tamatave - Maroantsetra

Prepare for a long boat trip to Maroantsetra! Take a trip in one of the wooden "boutres," often referred to as "lakana," that cruise the Indian Ocean coast on your way to Maroantsetra. The starting point for many trips on foot, by boat and even sea kayaking, Maroantsetra is a showcase for endemic flora and fauna not found anywhere else in the globe, giving you an opportunity to explore the uncharted territory of Madagascar.

Day 6 - Maroantsetra - Farankaraina

Set off on a guided trek through the Farankaraina Tropical Park in search of the Aye-Aye, one of the rarest lemur species in Madagascar. A thrilling excursion taking in the reserve's natural grandeur and seeing the local community is the finest way to explore Madagascar's distinctive flora and fauna. Along the route, you may also get a chance to witness other elusive wildlife species up close, such as Ring-Tailed Vontsiras, Mouse Lemurs, Sportive Lemurs, and Eastern Bamboo Lemurs.

Day 7, 8, 9, 10 - Masoala National Park

Discover some of Madagascar's most prized animals, such as lemurs, chameleons, birds, and other endangered species, for an opportunity to rekindle your relationship with nature. Masoala National Park is home to one of Madagascar's largest and most diverse remaining rainforests, which supports a wide range of endangered plant and animal species. Get a close-up look at some of Madagascar's uncommon species, including the Madagascar Crested Ibis, Helmeted Vanga, Berniers Vanga, Short Legged Ground Rulers, Leser Bamboo Lemurs, and Pygmy Kingfisher, as you explore Masoala National Park. Additionally, you can engage in enjoyable outdoor pursuits like swimming and snorkeling or just relax by the beach, soak up the sun, and take in the serenity of the beach.

Day 11 - Tampolo - Cap Masoala - Cap Est

Take in the biodiversity of the untamed rainforest and learn about the magnificent natural and wildlife treasures of Masoala while traveling from Tampolo to Cap-Est! Madagascar has a lot to offer, especially its lush rainforests teeming with endemic flora and fauna. Get an opportunity to get up close and personal with exoticw wildlife animals like the chameleons, Red-Breasted Couas, and the mysterious Red-Ruffed Lemur. You can also go on a late-afternoon walk that lasts into the night to increase your chances of seeing a lot of uncommon endemic wildlife.

Day 12 - Cap Est - Antalaha - Marojejy

Move towards the area of Marojejy National Park. Your walk will start when you are dropped off in Mandegny Village. On foot, it takes 2 to 3 hours to get from Mandegny to Camp Mantella, passing through a number of plantations, rice fields, and Savoka. During the course of the journey, you could run into camels, snakes, and many kinds of frogs.

Day 13 - Marojejy National Park - Duke University Lemur Study Center and Reserve

Explore the stunning Marajejy National Park by going on a safari expedition! See some of Madagascar's most prized wildlife, including the Silky Sifaka, Northern Bamboo Lemurs, Ring-tailed Vontsiras, Red-breasted Coua, Bernier's Vanga, and a host of other species. Enjoy the reserve's luscious vegetation and amazingly diverse fauna. A great place for nature lovers to unwind, take in breathtaking views, and witness rare, unique plants and animals! As part of the excursion, you will also see a variety of chameleons, snakes, and frogs in addition to visiting the Duke University Lemur Study Center and Reserve to see various lemur species in their natural habitat.

Day 14 - Sambava - Antananarivo

End of the journey. Transfer to Sambava Airport to Antananarivo for your onward destination.
