Nosy Sakatia Day Trip To The Orchid Island (incl. tropical bbq on the beach!)

Nosy Sakatia is only twenty minutes away by boat from Nosy Be, the crossing takes twenty minutes. The island is made up of several beautiful beaches and small relaxing coves, which makes it a privileged destination for snorkeling. In this transparent and peaceful water, you will have the chance to come across giant turtles, swim with whale sharks and observe whales depending on the season. The lucky ones may spot a family of dolphins! Take advantage of this unique activity in a heavenly place to recharge your batteries.

Hiking on the island of Sakatia will allow you to explore vanilla fields, plantations of coffee trees, pepper, and fruit trees such as pineapple. You will also see a wide variety of endemic plants. 

The island of Sakatia has 500 inhabitants and has three villages to visit. Among them we find the village of Ampasimena, located to the north, by the sea. A unique moment that will allow you to listen to Salegy, and other traditional Malagasy music. Go see the only school on the island in the village of Antanabe, created in 1999 thanks to a group of committed volunteers.

You will appreciate the white sand beaches, as well as the atmosphere of relaxation that results from it. Ampasimena has a beautiful secluded and uncrowded beach, ideal for swimming and napping under the coconut trees, after a nice hike. Discover Ampasoa beach, a small private cove, more touristy, with a restaurant and activities on site. It is also possible to reach Nosy Fanihy by boat, an uninhabited island considered sacred by the Malagasy for its cemetery of the Sakalava kings.
