Itinerary
Day 1 - Antananarivo - Maroantsetra
Arrive in Antananarivo. Meet and greet your guide at the designated location, taking you to the airport for a flight to Maroantsetra,a small seaside village located in a lovely riverine landscape at the foot of Antongil Bay.
Day 2 - Maroantsetra - Masoala National Park
Board on a boat to Masoala after breakfast. From Maroantsetra, the boat ride to Masoala takes about two hours. The Masoala Peninsula is home to a 230,000 ha national park with one of the best rainforests in the country. It is the largest terrestrial and marine protected area in Madagascar. Take a 3-hour hike through the forest after arriving to see lemurs, orchids, birds, and reptiles as well as uncommon and distinctive species like the green lizard, red owl, tomato frog, and serpent eagle. You may even unwind by swimming in the river, which is sure to be a pleasant experience.
Day 3 - Masoala National Park - Tampolo Marine Park
Take a boat to the Tampolo Marine Park, a beautiful location where the forest and the sea converge. It is home to coral, basaltic ruins that pierce the huge ocean, and sublime hills brimming with vitality and power. Get access to a private beach where you may unwind or engage in water activities. End the day at an eco-friendly lodge, where you will stay for the night.
Day 4 - Masoala National Park
Go snorkeling in the Masoala Marine Reserve, explore the coastal forest, and feel free to unwind. The Masoala Peninsula offers excellent opportunities for snorkeling and sea kayaking; all you need is a basic mask to enjoy the vivid underwater environment. It is one of Madagascar's top hiking and trekking locations. Between July and September, you can also see gigantic humpback whales in the Bay of Antongil.
Day 5 - Masoala National Park - Nosy Mangabe
Board a boat and travel to Nosy Mangabe, a lovely island and nature reserve that provides a haven for many different animals. Explore the natural reserve to observe its distinct plants and rare wildlife. It's also one of the best places to see aye-ayes in the wild. You will get the thrilling opportunity to visit the Betsimisaraka tombs. The Betsimisaraka tribe, Madagascar's second-largest ethnic group, makes up the majority of the central and northeastern coastal region. Afterwards, take a night walk in the wildlife reserve to search for uncommon nocturnal creatures. The endangered aye-aye, the largest nocturnal monkey in the world, may be seen if you're lucky. You will spend the night on the island of Nosy Mangabe.
Day 6 - Nosy Mangabe - Maroantsetra - Antananarivo
Travel back to Maroantsetra after breakfast. You will be driven to the airport to catch your flight back to Antananarivo once you reach the mainland. When you arrive, go to the hotel to check in. Take time to freshen up before heading out to explore the city at your own leisure. You will have plenty of time to see the attractive capital city, with its bustling streets ornamented with distinctive local crafts, diversified culture, and lively marketplaces. Admire the architecture, ambiance, and vibrancy of the city as you stroll through the twisting, mountainous streets of the capital. You can also climb to the old rova to see the city of Antananarivo and its surroundings. The town is at its best in the evening when the sun is sinking and the hillsides are magnificently illuminated.
Day 7 - Antananarivo
Depart from Antananarivo for your onward journey, bringing to a conclusion your wonderful Masoala Nature and Wildlife Safari excursion.
