Itinerary

Day 1 - Antananarivo - Maroantsetra - Masoala

Arrive in Antananarivo. Meet and greet your guide at the designated location, taking you to the airport for a flight to Maroantsetra, a small seaside village located in a lovely riverine landscape at the foot of Antongil Bay. From Maroantsetra, the boat ride to Masoala takes about two hours. The Masoala Peninsula is home to a 230,000 ha national park with one of the best rainforests in the country. It is the largest terrestrial and marine protected area in Madagascar.

Day 2 - Masoala National Park

Enjoy Masoala National Park's beautiful splendor while exploring the area and getting up close to some of Madagascar's unique species, like the Madagascar Crested Ibis, Helmeted Vanga, Berniers Vanga, Short Legged Ground Rulers, Leser Bamboo Lemurs, and Pygmy Kingfisher.

Day 3 - Tampolo Marine Park

Take a stroll through the marine park and coastal forest, relax, and go snorkeling in the Masoala Marine Reserve. As one of Madagascar's top hiking and trekking destinations, the Masoala Peninsula offers excellent opportunities for snorkeling and sea kayaking; all you need is a basic mask to enjoy the crystal clear underwater scene. You can also observe enormous humpback whales in the Bay of Antongil between July and September. After lunch, get on a boat and tour the mangroves.

Day 4 - Masoala - Nosy Mangabe

Take a boat to the island of Nosy Mangabe, a lovely nature reserve that provides a sanctuary for many different animals. One of the best locations to see aye-ayes in the wild, explore the natural reserve to observe its rare and uncommon plants and wildlife creatures. The exhilarating opportunity to tour the Betsimisaraka tombs is yours. The Betsimisaraka tribe, Madagascar's second-largest ethnic group, makes up the majority of the central and northeastern coastal region. After that, take a nighttime stroll in the wildlife reserve to search for unusual nocturnal critters. The endangered aye-aye, the largest nocturnal monkey in the world, may be seen if you're lucky. On the island of Nosy Mangabe, you'll spend the night.

Day 5 - Nosy Mangabe - Antananarivo

Return to Maroantsetra after breakfast. Once you are back in the mainland, you will be taken to the airport to catch your flight back to Antananarivo. Upon arrival, head to the hotel and check in. You will have plenty of time to see the attractive capital city, with its bustling streets ornamented with distinctive local crafts, diversified culture, and lively marketplaces. Take in the city's architecture, culture, and vibrancy as you stroll around the capital's winding, steep roads. You can also climb to the old rova (castle) to see the city of Antananarivo and its surroundings. The town is at its best in the evening when the sun is sinking and the hillsides are magnificently illuminated.
