Itinerary

 

Day 1

 

Arrival in Fukuoka

Arrive at Fukuoka Airport. Your local guide will meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel. Take time to freshen up before heading out to explore the city.

Make your way through the historic Castle Town of Kumamoto to catch sight of the consequential Kumamoto Castle. Check out the impressive architecture of the castle and get an insight into Japanese history as you explore one of the premier castles in Japan. 

 

Explore the Historic Sakuranobaba Johsaien

Take in the nostalgic charm of ancient Japan as you walk along the old streets and experience the amazing cultural heritage of Kumamoto featuring the interactive Wakuwakuza History and Cultural Experience and Sakuranokouji Shopping Arcade. Then, marvel at the fascinating flow of Manai Falls once you get inside the gorge and appreciate the beautiful water cascade falls over the gorge. You can walk along the scenic Takachiho Promenade or rent a boat to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic sights. 

 

See the Legendary Amano Iwato Shrine

Continue to one of the most visited and famous destinations in Japan, the mythological Amano Yasukawara. Best known as the cave where the Sun Goddess Amaterasu hid herself, be amazed at the captivating natural beauty of the cave. Day 5

 

See the Phenomenal Hot Spring Hells of Beppu

Journey to the popular Hells of Beppu (Jigoku Meguri) and marvel at the spectacular hot springs featuring unique characteristics from colors to scenic views to hydrothermal activities. 

Although the hot springs are strictly for viewing rather than bathing, the remarkably popular Hells of Beppu is designated as a Place of Scenic Beauty. Afterwards, head to the Kannawa area to enjoy a naturally hot steamed dish for lunch. 

 

Visit the Sacred Yunohana-goya in Myoban Onsen

Continue with a short drive to Myoban Onsen where you can get a close look at how the all-natural hot spring mineral powders are made. See the traditional thatched huts used to make the hot spring mineral salts and check out the souvenir shop selling a variety of local specialty products, including beauty products. Do not miss out on the famous hot spring steamed pudding in the area.

 

Day 6

 

Explore the Historic Nagasaki

Head to the picturesque port city of Nagasaki, a charming city perfectly highlighting both Japanese and Western cultures. As one of the cities in the world to experience a nuclear attack, visit the historical Nagasaki Peace Park and pay tribute to the victims of the second atomic bomb attack during the World War II. 

 

See the Remnants of the Former Dutch Trade

Get an insight into Japan’s foreign trade relations during the isolation period as you explore the notable Dejima District featuring the remnants of the former Dutch Trade Post. Continue to the stunning Glover Garden, one of the popular destinations showcasing the prosperous foreign trade relations of Japan, and admire the magnificent Western-style mansions of former Western residents of Nagasaki. Then, head to the most famous and oldest standing Christian Church in Japan. See the consequential Oura Catholic Church designated as national treasure and admire its contemporary European architectural features. 

 

Day 7

 

Tour the Fascinating Kitakyushu

Enjoy a scrumptious seafood feast in Karato Market, walk across the unique Kanmon Underwater Pedestrian Tunnel, take in the nostalgic charm of ancient Japan as you explore the beautifully-preserved structures in Mojiko Retro, see the beautiful Kokura Castle to admire traditional architecture, and check out the incredible selection of fresh local produce and seafood in Tanga Ichiba Market. You can also get a chance to walk into the enchanting Flower Tunnel with beautiful wisteria trellis at Kawachi Wisteria Garden (seasonal).

 

Day 8

 

Depart from Fukuoka

Check out from the hotel after breakfast. With the help of the local guide, transfer to Fukuoka Airport for your journey back home.
