Welcome to the jungle! This southern department draped along the Ecuadorian border remains an under-visited and little-known destination that dawns fast flowing rivers, impenetrable jungle shrouded in mist with a calming ring of squawking parrots looming above. Join us on a 3-day journey through the vast region of Putumayo and saturate yourself with the surrounding ancient communities.


Itinerary:


Day 1: Mocoa and Canyoning

Your day will get underway with a short walk to the Canon de Mandiyaco situated on the boded of Cacau, Caqueta and Putumayo. Admire the thick flora encompassing the canyon which was carved by the river below. You will then join up with the local community for lunch allowing a little more cultural interaction. Finish up the day with a transfer to Mocoa the main city to settle in for dinner and a nights rest at the posada.

Day 2: “Ancestral Hydrotherapy” & Waterfall experience

Begin your day with breakfast and a quick debriefing from your guide about the local area and indigenous communities living there. Then you will start your hike up the “Awkikuna” trail to the Mohano waterfall (the Jaguar man). After a relaxing dip you will continue along another trail called Intiwatana in search of the Wacana waterfall (the crying monkey). Here at this location you will have the chance to experience a session of “ancestral therapy” in the waters followed by an opportunity for birdwatching along the Pisku path. The afternoon will be dedicated to helping you better understand the area’s environmental protection programs and what lengths the C.E.A. (Centro Experimental Amazonico) takes to preserve the region. Also take the time to witness many local flora and fauna native to this area. The day will wind down with a return to the posada and another visit with the indigenous tribes learning and talking about their cosmovision.

Day 3: Magic Pools and Natural Waterfalls

Enjoy your morning with breakfast before departing for the “Fin del Mundo” site. A quality hike through the tropical rainforest en route to the Dantayaca River which you will have a chance to cross at different points. Here you’ll have the chance to bathe in some of the most refreshing natural pools and waterfalls. Your final destination will be a short walk further down the river to the Fin del Mundo a waterfall over 70m high. Make sure to take in the view of Mocoa and the surrounding land.
