Not falling in love with one of Colombia’s most alluring towns would be a difficult feat, especially one that gives you a feeling of time travel, with its iconic architecture, atmospheric central plaza, and the fact that it has some of the most calming, picturesque views overlooking the countryside. Our 3-day excursion brings you to the charming village of Barichara where so many should be lucky to see yet so few have ventured before.


Itinerary:

DAY 1: Barichara 

Your day will kick off with a guided tour of the town by meandering through the cobblestone streets and roadways of Barichara. Admiring the red-tiled roofs and iconic architecture with age-old colonial churches, a beautiful central plaza and an impressive view of the Suarez Canyon. As the tour continues you will notice the local artisans and shops begin to swing open their doors allowing you a glance at their craftsmanship, from traditional weaving, cigar rolling and stone carvings. 

DAY 2: Guane 

Today you will have a chance to hike along the Camino real, a very aged primordial path that served as a network between numerous pre-colonial indigenous communities. Eventually, we will arrive at the delightful town of Guane, which definitely beats to a slower more ancestral drum. This lovable town consists of old-world museums, cobblestone roads, and homes made from handcrafted materials which will give you an official feel of being in the land before time.

Day 3: The Chicamocha Canyon 

Our final day will begin with a road trip to one of the biggest canyons in the world, located at the Chicamocha National Park. After a short rest here, we will take a cable car to a viewpoint where you can truly applaud the wondrous depth of the canyon thanks to thousands of years of erosion. No better way than to put the finishing touch on this 3-day tour.
