The Best of Grande Comore Island

8h30 Full-day excursion, along the Northern part of the island of Grande Comore. (Lunch is included). You will visit the picturesque local villages, enjoy a cultural tour to discover heritage of the island.

Drive to the Iconi village and see the old sultan palace built in the 18th century and visit the adjacent cliffs of the time of slavery where village ladies commit suicide by jumping from the cliffs into the sea and died instead of going to slavery. The continue to Marabou Lake, a wetland mangrove site as breeding area of different egrets of the island. Continue to the Guereza palace to discover the island fortress and witchcraft house of Itsandra village.

Dragon rocks, is the famous mountain rock status which look like a dragon and you have the wonderful different rocks such as the kissing rocks, the mushroom rock, the African gorilla rock and the polar bear rock, and have panoramic view of famous turtles island. Proceed to Salt lake, which sulfuric water is reputed to heal skin diseases; the town of Mitsamiouli with the oldest baobab tree of the island.

Visit the bay of the prophet with its excellent conditions for snorkeling (including good facilities), get acquainted with the life and traditions of the local population. Then you will visit the Ylang-Ylang plantations, the hot sulfur springs of Lac Sale Lake, considered one of the best balneological areas of the island. Then you will visit the famous Dragon rocks, a nice scenery with shape of large dragon laying on the coast. 

Stop at Chomoni village, whose sheltered bay is famous for its unusual combination of mottled (mostly black) lava rocks and white sandy shores, and local bungalows are probably the best choice of a holiday destination in the region. 

After the tour at around 17h30 return to Moroni.
