Otun Quimbaya, Ucumari National Park, and Los Nevados National Park - 2 Days

An amazing opportunity to explore a small portion of Colombia's Mountains, however, do not have a week or more to do so. Call this a condensed excursion for those who want to experience the charm of the surrounding mountains and lakes in a fraction of the time. The Paramo ecosystem is world-class and shouldn’t be missed no matter your length of trip. 

DAY 1: ENTRANCE TO THE PARAMO AND EL OTUN LAKE

Start the day in Pereira city, Santa Rosa de Cabal or Manizales in 4x4 taking the dirt road for 2.5 hours. Soak in the Colombian landscape during your inter Andean drive while you continue through the valleys of the central mountain range. 

Once we arrive to our first local farm we can delve into a homemade breakfast while we are given information on the National park. 

By 10 am we can begin our next leg of the journey to the neighboring farm where we will stay the night. During this time we will be enjoying views of not only the Paramo ecosystem but Otun Lake considered the most breathtaking and largest bodies of water in the park. 

DAY 2:

Today, once breakfast is complete we will cross over the famous cloud forest as we make our way towards 3 conservation parks: Otun Quimbaya fauna and flora Sanctuary - Ucumari National Park and Los Nevados National Park. Here is a great way to witness and hear the shouting monkeys that reside in the area. Afterward, we will travel back 2 hours to Pereira using a traditional Colombian truck called a “china.”
