Day 1: Arrival in San Salvador

Meet and greet with our team at the international airport at San Salvador and transport to your hotel.

Day 2: City Tour Of San Salvador

Today we’ll have a tour of San Salvador in which we’ll visit the most important squares, avenues and buildings, such as:
- The National Theater - This beautiful neoclassical building is a popular cultural venue, hosting concerts, plays, and other events.

- National Art Gallery - Located in the historic center of the city, this museum features a collection of Salvadoran art, including paintings, sculptures, and prints.

- Metropolitan Cathedral - This stunning neoclassical cathedral is located in the heart of the city and is known for its beautiful stained glass windows and ornate altars.

- El Rosario Church - This historic church is known for its colorful, mosaic-covered exterior, which was created by Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort.
- Mercado Central - Located in the center of the city, this bustling market is the perfect place to browse for souvenirs and try some local cuisine.
- Plaza Libertad - This popular square is located in the center of the city and is surrounded by historic buildings and cultural attractions, including the National Theater and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

After our city tour we’ll go to El Boqueron National Park to climb the volcano from where we’ll have awesome views over San Salvador. We’ll then had back to San Salvador to check you in at our hotel. 

Day 3: Joya de Cerén and Tazumal and Ataco

Today on the menu: Tazumal and Joya de Cerén. A day full of history!

Joya de Cerén is an ancient village located in El Salvador that was preserved under layers of ash following a volcanic eruption in 600 AD. The village was discovered in the 1970s and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is considered an important archaeological site because it provides a rare glimpse into the daily lives of the Mayan people who lived there.

The village is located in the western part of El Salvador and consists of a number of well-preserved structures, including homes, storage buildings, and a community center. The homes are made of adobe and have thatched roofs, and many of the original household items, such as pots, tools, and clothing, are still intact.

Visitors to Joya de Cerén can explore the village and learn about the everyday lives of the Mayan people who lived there. It is an interesting and unique destination for anyone interested in history and archaeology.

Afterwards we’ll go to Tazumal, an ancient Mayan ruin located in the town of Chalchuapa, in western El Salvador and one of the most important Mayan sites in Central America. Tazumal has a number of well-preserved structures, including pyramids, plazas, and temples. The main pyramid, known as the Pyramid of the Sun, is a large, stepped structure that was used for religious ceremonies and sacrifices. The site also includes a number of smaller pyramids, plazas, and temples, as well as a ball court where the ancient Mayans played their traditional ball game.

In addition to its historical and cultural significance, Tazumal is also known for its beautiful setting, surrounded by lush vegetation and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Visitors can explore the site on their own or take a guided tour to learn more about the history and culture of the ancient Mayans.

Day 4: Ataco - Coffee Tour - Santa Teresa Hot Springs

Our tour starts in Ataco, a town in the Ahuachapán Department of El Salvador. It is located in the western part of the country, about 85 kilometers west of the capital, San Salvador. Ataco is known for its coffee production and its colonial-style architecture, and it is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range. The town is also home to a number of festivals and cultural events, including the Festival de la Primavera, which takes place in October and features music, dance, and traditional food. We’ll explore this colorful town with its beautiful murals and will visit a coffee processing site. We’ll then continue our tour to the Santa Teresa Hot Springs.

Santa Teresa is a small town in El Salvador known for its hot springs, which are located in the nearby Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range. The hot springs are a popular tourist destination, and they are believed to have medicinal properties due to the high mineral content of the water. The town of Santa Teresa is located in the department of Ahuachapán, about 25 kilometers southwest of Ataco. The hot springs are surrounded by lush vegetation and offer a peaceful, natural setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. Some of the hot springs in Santa Teresa are located in hotels or resorts, while others are more rustic and open to the public.

Day 5: Ruta de las Flores - Izalco - Cerro Verde National Park

We’ll continue the rest of the Ruta de Las Flores today with a stop at Izalco if time permits. La Ruta de las Flores (The Flower Route) is a scenic route through the mountains of western El Salvador, located in the departments of Chalatenango, Cuscatlán, and La Libertad. The route gets its name from the abundance of flowers that can be seen along the way, particularly during the dry season when the flowers are in bloom. The route passes through several small towns and villages, each with its own unique character and attractions. The towns along La Ruta de las Flores are known for their colonial-style architecture, colorful houses, and charming plazas. The route is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, and it offers a variety of activities such as hiking, birdwatching, and visiting local markets and coffee plantations.

Cerro Verde National Park is a protected natural area in El Salvador that is located in the western part of the country, near the city of Santa Ana. The park covers an area of approximately 2,200 hectares and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including over 400 species of plants and a variety of animals such as deer, armadillos, and monkeys. The park is named after the Cerro Verde volcano, which is one of the three major volcanoes in El Salvador. The park is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers, who can enjoy the park's beautiful scenery and diverse ecosystem. The park also offers a number of recreational facilities and amenities, including a visitors' center, picnic areas, and restrooms.

Day 6: El Zonte Beach And Tunco Beach

El Zonte and El Tunco are small towns located in El Salvador, Central America. El Zonte is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches and waves that are popular with surfers. It is located on the Pacific coast of El Salvador, about an hour's drive from the capital city of San Salvador. El Tunco is another small town located on the Pacific coast, not too far from El Zonte. It is also known for its beautiful beaches and is a popular destination for surfers. Both towns have a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere and are known for their friendly locals and vibrant nightlife.

After spending the day here, we’ll go to San Salvador and get you checked in at your hotel. 

Day 7: Departure 

Today we’ll bring you to the airport of San Salvador and make sure you’re in time for your flight. If you are planning to continue your way overland to Guatemala or Honduras, please let us know if you need any assistance for border crossing and transport.
