Lake Mukamba 7-Day Fishing Adventure

Located in the rich and beautiful province of Western Kasai in the DRC is Lake Munkamba, a lake like no other. The lake, which was believed in the earlier time to have the form of a human being with arms and legs stretched out, is said to be enchanted and has full of mysteries. Legend has it that this body of water which started as a measly spring grew so big and drowned the entire region, killing hundreds and forcing the surviving villagers to evacuate. 

Today, the lake is a pristine and tranquil sight, often used as a refuge and retreat for missionaries and travelers from across the globe. And now in the time of planes and drones, it is confirmed that Lake Munkamba looks more like a bird with outstretched wings than a human being. 

But aside from its interesting tale and serenity, the lake is also popular among fishing enthusiasts for the abundance of species found underneath and the possibility of meeting the Mbenga monster or tiger fish. On this trip, you will have an amazing couple of days on the lake and have a real, raw fishing experience in one of the most exclusive parts of the continent.

Day 1: Arrival in Kinshasa or Lubumbashi

Meet the team at the airport and drive to your hotel. You'll then be briefed by your guide and the rest of the day will be at your leisure.

Day 2: Kinshasa - Lake Mukamba

Hop on a plane to Mbuji-Mayi and head to Lake Munkamba. Check-in at your accommodation which has all your basic needs and spend the rest of the day at your leisure. You may spend some time at the local's hangout places by the lake, appreciate the beautiful surroundings, and then prepare for the next couple of days of fishing.

Day 3-5: Lake Mukamba fishing

On days 3 to 5, you'll have the best 3 days of tiger fishing fun with a private boat and under the close supervision of local fishermen. With their knowledge of the lake and fishing skills and techniques they've known since forever, you'll most likely reel in the meanest fish on the planet at only the best spots there are on the lake.

Day 6: Lake Mukamba - Mbuji-Mayi

Spend the morning as you wish and then return to Mbuji-Mayi after lunch. Spend the night at a local hotel.

Day 7: Mbuji-Mayi - Kinshasa or Lubumbashi

Travel back by plane to Kinshasa or Lubumbashi. Our team will assist you with transfers to your hotel or the airport.
