Cycling Day Tour from Medellin
- Duración: 1 Días (aproximadamente)
- Ubicación: Medellin
- Código de producto: ctoday3
Colombia has produced some of the toughest cyclists out there and no wonder! The country is filled with epic trails in steep mountains at high elevations. Going on a mountain bike ride is also an interesting way to see some of its iconic sites, like El Peñol, Guatapé. Only fifteen minutes away from the original town of Guatapé, take a ride along 30 km of single-track mountain biking. Greet local farm owners, fence gates, greet local ranchers, or give the odd donkey the right of way. Enjoy beginner, intermediate, or advanced single-track mountain bike trails depending on your skill level with an expert bilingual guide.
What to Expect
After breakfast, meet your bilingual professional adventure guide at 8 a.m. at our Medellín office.
From here, drive 2 hours to the town of Guatapé. Upon arrival, we will take a biking tour through the countryside for 2 hours as you learn about the original town of Guatapé and the armed conflict surrounding the building of the dam that was renamed to Guatapé Lake.
Take the road less traveled to gain an insider’s perspective on the real story of Guatapé as few tourists do and learn about local efforts to pressure the government to address the reservoir’s encroaching blue-green algae. Cycle for three to four hours along the single-track trails. Relax with a snack and beverage on a mountainside.
As you bike, take in stunning vistas of the dazzling granite La Piedra Rock, El Peñol. Upon your return, climb the 700 steps of El Peñol Rock to admire the classic view of Guatapé Lake reservoir. Return to relax in Guatapé, the most colorful town in Colombia, and admire the town’s beautiful artwork along the lower half of its buildings. Enjoy a typical dish of freshwater fish, or other local delicacies. Return to your hotel in Poblado, Medellín by 7 p.m.
