This 8-day adventure spotlights two of Colombia’s most phenomenal natural treasures each with its own unique and pristine ecosystems. The first half of your trip takes you to Chingaza National Park which is cocooned by the magical Andean mountains with a network of hiking trails, wildlife and native culture all resting at an altitude of 3400 masl. The latter half swings you over to Colombia’s equivalent of an African Safari “The Llanos” where flooded savannahs are crawling with magnificent mammals and reptile species. An inspiring way to witness and appreciate two of Colombia’s no longer best kept secrets that both play a crucial role in sustaining the balance of earth.
Day 1: Chingaza- Chingaza Park
TREK CHINGAZA (SAN JUANITO – MONFORT) – 4 DAYS/ 3 NIGHTS
Discover the wonders of the Chingaza Natural Park region: native forests, canyons, suspension bridges, rivers, waterfalls and ravines will never cease to amaze you during this 4-day and 3-night trek.
CHINGAZA NATIONAL NATURAL PARK
After reception, enjoy a breakfast in the village before being driven to the entrance of Chingaza N.N.P. (3400 masl) by private 4X4. After a briefing, start your trek in the heart of the park, which will lead you through sumptuous landscapes of “paramo”, a unique ecosystem very characteristic of Colombia, as well as many mountain lakes. Lunch on the way. After hiking for 13kms, reach the “Rajadero” shelter where you will have dinner and spend the night (very rustic).

Day 2: Chingaza Park
PARAMO – ANDINE FOREST
Breakfast at the shelter before heading to San Juanito: this trail is mainly composed of downhills (from 3,600 masl to 1,900 masl). There, you be hosted in a familial guest house. In the afternoon, discover the “Cave” nearby the village. Explore by foot this natural wonder before going back to the guest house by the end of the day to have dinner and have a resting night.

Day 3: Chingaza Park
RÍO GUATIQUÍA CANYON
Early breakfast before leaving for a new segment of the trek that leads to the Guatiquía Canyon ubicated in the surroundings of Villavicencio. This road is mainly composed of downhills with some hard ascents. Admire the splendid views over the Canyon and its hanging bridges, crossing the Guatiauía river. Picnic lunch during the activity. Dinner in the camp, overnight in a tent (the campsite is located 900m away from the village of Monfort).

RESERVA HATO LA AURORA
Located 180 km from Yopal, Juan Solito Ecolodge welcomes you to its charming infrastructure built with local materials, while staying in touch with the architecture of the region. The various activities offered will allow you to discover the incredible wildlife (howler monkeys, pumas, birds, etc.) living in these beautiful landscapes.
YOPAL - RESERVA HATO LA AURORA
In a 4x4, depart from Yopal to the reserve Hato La Aurora crossing the Casanare Department, in the heart of the Llano region.
Arrive at the reserve and have time to settle into your room before a delicious typical lunch from the Llanos.
Then you can stroll around the lodge and look for the surrounding wildlife on your own.
In the evening, enjoy dinner and sunset on the plains before resting in the ecolodge.

Day 5: Yopal
SAFARI
After breakfast, Jeep Safari in the reserve to the Hato la Aurora, an hour and a half from the hotel. You can see wildlife such as capybaras, white-tailed deer, alligators, cattle, wild horses, and a great number of birds such as herons, plovers, owls, ibis, and a variety of countless surprises that inhabit these lands. For lunch, you can try meat with different types of sides (cheese, rice, plantain, cassava, salad) and many other delights. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. If the sun has already set, you can try to spot nocturnal wildlife and if the weather is good, you can see the multitude of stars.
Have dinner at the hotel and, if you are not tired, you will get an explanation and demonstration of llanera harp, poems, traditional folk songs, and listen to the legend of the duck, la Llorona, and the fireball.

Day 6: Yopal
ADVENTURE IN THE RESERVE
Today you can choose between two options:
1. Horseback riding in the reserve to discover many species of birds and howler monkeys living in these forests.
2. Take a boat trip in the reserve and let yourself be amazed by the beauty of the surrounding landscape. You can fish on the river and enjoy the sunset in the evening.

Day 7: Yopal
LOOKING FOR THE ANACONDA
Today, go in search of the anaconda, the mysterious animal hero with many legends. The fascinating animal often lives near rivers. You will learn a lot about this aquatic snake with an impressive jaw, able to hide in the water and breathe through its nostrils above the surface. Anacondas are a dangerous predator for jaguars, caimans and other anacondas but are not a threat to man. Dinner and overnight at the ecolodge.

HATO LA AURORA RESERVE - YOPAL
After breakfast, the time of departure depends on you. If you are not in a hurry to go on with your adventures, you can walk around the hotel, have lunch, pack your bags and enjoy the landscapes and animals one last time.
Transfer to Yopal by Jeep.
