Caño Cristales from Bogota - 5 Days

Day 1 - Arrival to La Macarena: 

The adventure begins at La Macarena Airport - Javier Noreña Valencia, where you will be met by your assigned guide who will accompany you throughout your tour of Caño Cristales. The first stop is at the hotel to drop off your luggage at your assigned room, and then leave to receive the induction talk from the local environmental entities. This is mandatory for entry into the trails. After the induction, and according to the departure time indicated by National Parks, you will go to Puerto Inderena or Puerto Tigres to take the boat that will take you for about 20 minutes over the Guayabero River, to Puerto Cristalitos from where you will walk for about 30 minutes to get to Caño Cristalitos and enjoy a small river of crystal clear waters with natural pools, perfect to relax and enjoy the place. There you will have lunch, which is served in "fiambre", which consists of wrapped banana leaves. After the tour, you will return to La Macarena to rest and have dinner. Your guide will tell you what time to meet for breakfast and the next day's tour.

Day 2 - Among the colors of Caño Cristales: 

After breakfast, you will go to Puerto Inderena to take the boat and travel along the Guayabero River for approximately 25 minutes until you arrive this time at Puerto Los Mangos, where there is an environmental control point and where you will board a 4x4 vehicle to the entrance of the trail to Caño Cristales. From this point the hike of this day begins. You will go through different attractions on this incredible river, visiting places like: Los Hoyos, Los Pianos, La Piscina del Turista, Los Cuarzos and El Paso de la Danta, among others, where you will be able to face, swim and observe the Macarenia Clavigera that fills this place with colors, as well as take pictures, enjoy waterfalls and several unique natural environments. It is important that you know that during the tours you can take recreational baths in designated places, which your guide will always let you know. You will also have lunch on this day, which is also served in the restaurant. After an afternoon full of nature, you will return to La Macarena for dinner.

Day 3 - Colored Crystals: 

The routine is repeated this day as well as on the following days. But this time, the trail will take you to Pailones, where the Macarenias have a green color that you will want to see and photograph. You will have the morning to enjoy recreational bathing, photography, wildlife observation, and in the late afternoon you will return to La Macarena for rest and dinner.

Day 4 - The sounds of the Laguna del Silencio:

On this day you will arrive at the Vereda de La Cachivera. From there you will walk for approximately 45 minutes until you reach the Laguna del Silencio, where you will climb in a "colt" for your tour of this quiet place. The Laguna del Silencio, as its name says, is a place of complete calm, to relax and do bird watching.  You will have lunch at a nearby farm, where you can rest in hammocks while listening to the sounds of nature. Then, you will make the same journey back to La Macarena, for dinner on this day.

Day 5 - Caño Piedra: 

Very early in the morning, you will take a ground transportation (van or motorcycle taxi) from the hotel to a small river known as Caño Piedra. The trip to this place will be enlivened by one of the best landscapes of this destination: the flat savannas, the Serrania de La Macarena and the Guayabero river. You will have a morning of rest in this small river of crystalline and warm waters. After enjoying this landscape, you will return to La Macarena to go to the airport where our excursion to Caño Cristales ends and finally return to your place of origin.
