A designated Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta, is the largest of the swampy marshes in Colombia. Its main ecosystems are the mangrove areas, floodplains, and coastal lagoons, and has an area of about 280 km2, making it the most important coastal lagoon of the country.
On this tour, explore the river mouths that descend from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta that hosts more than 80 species of aquatic and terrestrial birds. Board a boat and cruise into the interior of the Ciénaga Grande, encountering birds like Chauna Chavarri, Guacharaca, Night Heron, and more. You will also pass by on-stilts villages of the lagoon before enjoying a sumptuous lunch in Ciénaga. Your fun day out in nature ends with a transfer back to your Santa Marta hotel at around 2-3 PM.
