Ab USD 4.250,00 $
  • Dauer: 8 Tage (ca.)
  • Ort: Bogota
  • Produkt-Code: ctofishing

The Amazon is the most biodiverse region on the planet. The entire river is a protected area with pristine rainforest. During your stay, expect to run into wildlife including many iconic species like the Amazon river dolphin, tapirs, the green anaconda, giant otters, and the elusive jaguar.

This custom payara trip is to be organized on the Orinoco 20 minutes downriver from the mouth of the Tomo River on an island where we are finalizing the construction of 8 cabins.

The trip is focused on catching trophy payara be it on fly or lure during 6 full fishing days with the possibility of targeting other species in excellent size and numbers like sardinata which we frequently catch over 10 pounds (almost daily), bicuda, several species of piranha and black pacu. You can also fish for peacock bass as the first productive is 1 hour from the lodge. However, the trip is dedicated to the Orinoco fishery.

You will fish 3 different rapids, 2 anglers per boat although most fishing will be done wading from the rocks, Maipures, El Guajibo, and Atures, all produce a LOT of payara. In the last two seasons, we have caught thousands of payara total and many many over 20 and several in the upper 30's. Accommodations will be very comfortable.

Species can include;

  • Speckled Peacock Bass
  • Orinoco Peacock Bass
  • Payara
  • Matrinxa
  • Sardinata
  • Black Pacu
  • Shovelnose Catfish

What to expect:

Day 1: Today as you arrive in Bogata you will transfer to the Marriott Courtyard Hotel for the night.

Day 2: This morning you will meet your guide at the airport and fly from Bogotá - Puerto Carreño from the
Aeropuerto El Dorado. When you arrive in Puerto Carreño our driver will be waiting
for you. From here we will depart the 4-hour 4x4 journey down the backroads on an unforgettable scenic drive complete with deer, tapir, pumas, and anacondas until you reach the mouth of the Tomo river. The arrival time to camp depends on what time the domestic flight is today. We will overnight in the Orinoco Camp - there is great payara fishing right at the camp.

Day 3 - 6: Fishing Days

Over the course of the next few days you will have the pleasure of living with Puinave Indians in a comfortable camp setup.

**To ensure this place is protected for future generations, it is essential local indigenous communities are also benefited through conservation. This is why for every visiting angler, we donate a fee to the Puinave community to air the local conservation efforts.

The natural beauty is unrivaled, and the pull of a land-based 20+ pound payara in a strong current is also without equal. The amount of fish and low pressures means the fishing here is world-class. Boats are shared between 2 anglers. Three rapid systems can be fixed from this camp, as well as the mouth of the Tomo river.

**Accommodations are very comfortable. The cabins have big fans, screen walls, a deck, private bathroom and shower, giant mosquito net, comfortable bed, a full-time professional chef, unlimited beer, soft drinks, ice and drinking water, electricity all afternoon and night, a cozy social lounge, and bar.

Day 7:

Wake up to your last fishing day today as we head down river - fishing of course. Today is dedicated to Peacock Bass (unless you prefer 1/2 day for Payara as well)  until around 4:30pm where we will head from the last Peacock lagoons back to the Orinoco camp.
