Visiting the Tairona's Lost City deep in the jungle of Sierra Nevada is an experience you won't soon forget. Built around 700 A.D., the ancient settlement was the principal urban center of the Tayrona civilization and one of the most important archaeological findings for the study of this culture.
WHAT TO EXPECT
On this tour, you'll get firsthand knowledge of the area's unique way of life and traditions and at the same time, get to appreciate nature as you trek through lush jungles and pristine streams.
Day 1
Wake up and hit the road on a 4x4 vehicle to the village of El Mamey, where your trek to the Lost City begins. After lunch, start your trek through the first cabin, stopping occasionally to appreciate nature at its finest and get a glimpse of the local way of life in the remote river valleys of the Sierra Nevada.

Day 2
After breakfast, venture further into the lush jungle of the reserve. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to learn about Kogui and Wiwa, two of the main indigenous communities that inhabit the reserve. You may also spend some time by the Buritaca River to relax and have a refreshing swim.

Day 3
Begin your descent to the Buritaca River Valley and pass an indigenous Kogui village called Mutanyi. During the trek, you'll have the opportunity to appreciate nature at its finest and enjoy a refreshing bath in one of the many rivers you'll cross. Arrive at the third camp called Paraiso Teyuna, have warm delicious food, and enjoy a rustic, back-to-basic night at the cabin.

Day 4
Start your day with breakfast and begin your 2 km journey towards your goal, the Tairona's 'Lost City' or Ciudad Perdida. Climb 1200 steps that will lead you to the majestic stone settlement interconnected by roads, retaining walls, and circle-shaped terraces, surrounded by enchanting forest with unique flora and fauna. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere and stories of this place and marvel at what would have been here in years gone by. After the tour, you'll return to the Paraiso Teyuna camp for lunch then continue to the second camp where you'll spend the night.

Day 5
Wake up with the sound of nature and have a delicious breakfast at the camp. Begin your hike back to El Mamey, walking through deep Sierra Nevada jungle, enjoying its unique sounds and overwhelming greenery.
Day 6
Today is the last day of your Sierra Nevada adventure. Continue your way back to El Mamey and the journey will show you the breathtaking waterfalls and rivers of the national park. After lunch, you'll board the 4x4 vehicle that will take you back to Santa Marta.
