The “Lost City” of the Taironas, Ciudad Perdida is one of Colombia’s most fascinating archaeological spots. The civilization, founded in 700 A.D., was abandoned soon after the arrival of the Spanish and was only rediscovered in the 1970’s by local treasure hunters. In 1976, the Colombian Anthropological Institute arrived to reconstruct the Lost City and tourism started.
