Not far from Bogota is a small community called Zipaquira. Within the town is the famous Cathedral that is made from salt - quite literally. About 600m underground an entire cathedral has been carved from salt - the remnants of an old salt mine. The church is still used and is especially busy around Easter. As a whole the level of architecture and skill that originally went into this the work of art and continuously goes into it for preservation is astonishing and something to really write home about. It is truly one of those see if to believe it experiences that will leave you feeling as though you have entered another world.
