Also known as the honey lake, Lac Assal is a crater-lake that sits atop the Great Rift Valley. The lake is surrounded by several dormant volcanoes and lava fields and the location has been used by the locals to harvest salt.

Upon arrival, be captivated by the breathtaking views of the turquoise blue lake contrasted against the brilliantly white salt fields. From the smallest to the biggest rock in and around the lake is coated in a thick layer of salt. Before the tour ends, make sure to check out the souvenirs sold by the locals, which include salt crystals, salt-encrusted rocks, and other trinkets you won't find anywhere else but in Lac Assal.
