Lake Abbe and the Chimneys Day Tour from Djibouti

Situated in the border of Djibouti and Ethiopia is Lac Abbe, a lake that stretches six miles in width and is covered in clusters of massive, steam-blasting limestone chimneys. Unlike the usual lake, Abbe's dry land absorbs the water, and the area is a vast landscape of salt flats.

Travel from Djibouti to Lake Abbe, and upon arrival, be welcomed by the chimneys as stretching as high as 150 feet into the air. Despite the hot and hellish climate in the Afar Depression, you can expect to see nomadic shepherds, flocks of flamingos, antelopes, and gazelles around the area.
