Situated a few miles from the shore of Djibouti City, the magical stretch of Maskali and Moucha Islands is one of the favorite day trip destinations of locals and visitors. This almost two-mile-long spot is frequented by travelers interested in exploring one of the richest areas in the world for coral and fish species.

Hop on a boat from the city port and travel for about 30 mins to Maskali. With your snorkeling gear, jump into the water and have a chance to see all the fish species you can imagine: surgeonfish, angelfish, parrotfish, napoleon, barracuda, and if you're lucky, you may even spot some sea turtles. Then, head to Moucha Island where you'll find Sheraton Beach, a perfect spot to chill and enjoy a picnic. While in Moucha, you may also explore further and see its mangrove forest which also serves as a shelter for fish and other organisms looking for food and protection from predators.
