Blackhawk Down Site & The Mogadishu Mile
TOUR OF THE UN AND US JOINT TASK FORCE AND CIVIL WAR HISTORY, INCLUDING OPERATION RESTORE HOPE AND THE BATTLE OF MOGADISHU
In the 1990’s the US’ most demoralizing experience abroad was perhaps the street and urban warfare that took place with US Army Rangers and Delta Force, and other joint special forces in the streets of Mogadishu near the hotel in the center of town a ways from Bakara Market. This tour takes a look at all of the events leading up to and during that battle, and talks to Somalis who where there (depending on their time when you are here) that day and witnessed that time and the helicopter strikes.

This tour has been conducted over 75 times now for journalists, veterans, embassy personal, and authors. If you have specific requests or interests in this tour, please ask us. If you are a military family, from any or every side and nationality, and can prove this to us, we offer very high discounts and sometimes can give you seats on this trip for free.
There are no pieces of the Sikosky Blackhawk Helicopters left, but we visit and chronicle the events and the site of the pin down, the UN controlled zone, the urban warfare and tactical challenges, victories, lessons, and errors, and the Mogadishu Mile that was a hellish dash in a desperate time. One of the staff from time to time worked in a Sikorsky Factory in USA that manufactures the choppers, and another family had children who were on both sides of the altercations that plagued Somalia through those decades.
If you have particular interest and it is safe at the time, we can visit the weapons market in Bakara or other places it has moved at the time.
