Al Ahsa, in the Eastern Province of KSA, is a sultry oasis in the Arabian Desert overland. An easy day tour from Dammam, the trip is an excellent diversion from the scorching seas to the verdant garden of Eastern KSA. You will wander old architecture and rock caves, gaze at great geology and greenery in an otherworldly setting, and admire the artesian springs and riverine dunes around this diamond in the rough desert.

The tour starts from Dammam or your Al-Ahsa area/Eastern Province Location or Residence, and can pick you up at any location in the city, after breakfast.

We drive today to the south and west, heading first into the Love Market in Dammam and the souks before they begin to bustle, and then along the coast of Al Khobar and the Persian Gulf seacoast where we can thoroughly visualize and realize the old and modern contrast of international trade in this area, the land bridge to Bahrain and history of Qatar, Saudi, and Bahrain, and the ancient history of trade in the Gulf along the silk roads all the way to the modern flow of oil that powers the engines of the world.

We reach Al Ahsa Oasis and walk the mountains and some of the dunes surrounding the city before touring the wells and canals that make such verdant food production possible. We head into some of the old architecture in the core city streets, and end on a lakeside before stopping to try snacks or even lunch or dinner (not included) at the palatial IHG in town, before heading back to Dammam in the late part of the day.
