Madagascar 11 Day Value Tour from Nosy Be - North Circuit 

1. ANKIFY – ANJAVIMILAY:

The car and the guide will pick you up in Ankify, where we will start the tour to Anjavimilay.

This tour reveals cocoa, spices (vanilla, pepper, pink berry) and fragrant plants (ylang, vetiver, patchouli) on the large plantations of Sambirano and a rural world still preserved throughout history from the lake and the village of Anjavimilay. Guided tour of the plantations: fragrant plants (ylang, vetiver, basil, patchouli, combava, pink berry) and local products (cocoa, coffee, vanilla, pepper).

Arrival at the end of the morning at the village of Anjavimilay. The typical Malagasy meal is prepared by the Fivemi Association's embroiderers who also offer a traditional braiding and facials session.

2. AMBANJA – AMBOBAKA

Second day to discover Sambirano Valley by Ambobaka. This circuit allows to discover the High Sambirano and its huge cocoa plantations, rice fields and small villages. Economic lung of the region is also a real water tower that irrigates the entire valley. Immersion in the Sambirano Valley. Ambobaka is a village known for being a Mecca of traditional medicine. A line of healers exercises ancestral knowledge that allows them to heal  using plants and different massage techniques. Visit the garden of medicinal plants in company. Canoe ride along the Ramena River. Picnic and swim under the falls and in the basins of the "Good Father" waterfall. In the afternoon, back on the track through the Ambanja bridge to admire the colors of the twilight on the Sambirano river.

3. AMBANJA – ANKARANA

Ankarana National Park was founded in 1956. The park has a total area of 18,225ha and an altitude of 206m. Ankarana would have been used as a refuge by the Antakarana people.

You will discover in this park - the caves, rivers, canyons, the terrestrial fauna (lemurs), and especially, the tsingy which is the peculiarity of this park

5. ANKARANA – DIEGO

Leaving Ankarana to continue our drive to Antsiranana, also known as Diego-Suarez, is a port city in northern Madagascar. Visit of the city of Diego

6. DIEGO – Ramena - Mer d’emeraude

Located at the entrance to the bay of Diego-Suarez, in the extreme north of the country, the Emerald Sea identifies itself as a huge shallow lagoon characterized by a turquoise hue due to its shallow depth of water combined with sand. It is thus separated from the Indian Ocean by a coral reef and a string of islets. Its shallow water is a natural aquarium where multicolored fish are waiting for you. You will see so many corals, paillots, golden sand, nice fishermen, as well as fishing, etc .

7. Diego Suarez

Today we are going to leave Diego for joining the 3 bays which are also known as the symbol of Suarez. We will have the opportunity to  admire Nosy Lonjo, also called “pain de sucre” or sugar loaf island considered sacred by the habitants. Night at Mantasaly

9. Diego – Montagne d’Ambre

Created in 1958, Amber Mountain National Park owes its name to the amber colored resin that flows from its trees and is used by Malagasy people for medicinal purposes. Located 3km from Joffreville and 30 km from Diego Suarez, this park offers many excursions to do with family or friends. It enjoys a unique micro-climate where grows a humid forest of the Highlands which stretches over 23000 hectares spread over a volcanic massif of an altitude ranging between 850 and 1475 meters. You will discover a wide variety of birds, amphibians and lemurs. You will see many waterfalls and lakes on your visit, all in a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere.

10. Montagne d’Ambre - Tsingy Rouge - Analaramena – Ankarana

These red Tsingy come from an erosion also called "lapiez". This original geological formation, linked to the combination of bush fires, erosion and rainwater infiltration, offers an unusual supernatural landscape. Analamerana was classified Special Reserve in 1956 and is the only protected area that gives refuge to the endangered Perrier's sifaka lemur species. Three of the seven known Baobab species grow inthe reserve.
