The Cure Salée, French for Salt Cure - or also known as the Festival of the Nomads is a celebration marking the end of the rainy season in Niger. The festivities are held for 3 days in the town of Ingall, in northern Niger.

The festival is an annual gathering of the Tureg and Wodaabe people. The groups are known for their grand celebrations, elaborate attire, and nomadic lifestyles.  This spectacular show, the Cure Salee, is held over three days and draws a crowd of thousands from neighboring countries including Nigeria, Benin, and Libya.

As they bring in the dry season, new friendships are made and marriages are held as cultural traditions are displayed and proudly demonstrated. Although the festival is one of the most popular and unique in Africa, it is a very well hidden gem from the rest of the world. Experiencing the Cure Salee is likely to be the most unique experiences you'll encounter and definitely one you'll never forget!
