The DR Congo to Gabon's Atlantic Coast is home to some of the biggest game fish in the world. Fishing enthusiasts not only from Central Africa but from across the world visit the country in the hopes of reeling in huge barracuda, marlin, and swordfish, among others. But one game fish that has gained more popularity in recent years is the Atlantic tarpon which can be found in coastal waters, estuaries, lagoons, and rivers. And one perfect location to meet these Silver Kings is in Muanda, a town located next to the Mangroves National Park which is where the mighty Congo River and the ocean meet.

On this 7-day trip, enjoy a scenic drive from Kinshasa to Muanda, with a few stops in Kisantu, Kimpese, and Boma. Enjoy days out on the water, catching fish only at the best spots, and being guided by a professional local crew. In addition, you'll have plenty of time to mingle with the locals and get a glimpse of the local history and life in Bas-Congo.

Day 1: Kinshasa - Boma

Leave early in the morning for Boma, which used to be the capital of the DRC. Stay on top of a hill with views of the cathedral and a few picturesque old colonial red-brick buildings. If we didn’t lose too much time because of the hectic morning traffic in Kinshasa, we’ll try to do a tour in the old center.

Day 2: Boma - Muanda

Start the day with breakfast and drive for another 3 hours to the town of Muanda. After settling down at your accommodation, you'll have the afternoon to explore the beach and the rest of the town as you please.

Day 3-5: Atlantic Coast fishing

You'll spend days 3 to 5 having a fishing experience you won't soon forget. Although the boat is small and basic, you'll have the best crew who not only knows the area and the game so well but also is great to be around all throughout.

Day 6: Muanda - Kisantu

Drive back to Kisantu and if time permits, you may also tour around the city for a couple of hours. Accommodation will also be in Kisantu.

Day 7: Kisantu - Kinshasa
