7 DAY SOMALILAND AND DJIBOUTI TOUR: FROM HARGEISA TO LAAS GEEL CAVES TO BERBERA TO SHEIKH MOUNTAINS TO BORAMA & GABILEY TO LAKE ASSAI TO THE RED SEA'S FINEST DIVING

If you want to combine western Somalia with Djibouti and visit colleagues or military pals in Djibouti, see all of the sites of that nation too, and really get a sense of both of the safest areas in the horn of Africa, than this tour is perfect for you. You'll also get to go scuba diving and hiking. (or snorkeling if you're not certified, but the area is the best reef and shipwreck in the Red Sea.)

The trip stays at excellent midrange hotels and includes fantastic SUV's and guiding and security (not included in Djibouti.) We do not include food in the tour for flexibility and control for the client's budget, but can arrange all of the food if they'd like to get an accurate synopsis and cuisine-cross-section of Somaliland as well. (Djibouti doesn't really veritable have a national cuisine.)

WORKING ITINERARY

Day 1: Hargeisa and the Horn Sites and Delights

Pickup from a hotel of choice or the international airport in Hargeisa, and we head around the cultural markets and historical monuments of Hargeisa, experience local everyday life, and see the economic engines of industry and trade of the city.

Day 2: Ancient Caves and Prehistoric Coves

We head to Dhagah Gure first to see ancient cave drawings, before heading to more at the famous Laas Geel Caves (which dates back to 9000 years BC, with astonishing history where many international tourists visit each and every day). The European Union and Somaliland government also launched a project to preserve this place, as Somaliland is still not officially recognized to access UNESCO aid. The day is spent touring archeology and history.

Day 3: Berbera Port and Beaches Tour and over to Sheikh Mountains

We tour Berbera and the port of the ancient trade in the Mediterranean and Red Sea, and the coastal fishing villages. Berbera is not far from Hargeisa and the road infrastructure is good as the road is modernized by United Arab Emirates. We head to climb the cooler and soaring Sheikh mountains to top off our views

Day 4: Borama and Gabiley and the Somali Countryside

We head to visit the western frontier of Somaliland and Ethiopia spanning the border of Ethiopia, and villages and farms outside and the rural realities.

Day 5: Djibouti City and History Tour

We cross into Djibouti via the land border spanning and enjoying the red sea, and spend the day touring the city and markets, historical sites, and modern embodiments of trade and geopolitics of the horn.

Day 6: Maskali and Moucha Island and the Red Sea's Best Diving and Shipwreck

We go to the premiere dive and snorkel site, The Canyon, in Djibouti, and you can spend the day on one of the most beautiful spots in the red sea. Here you can dive or snorkel the reef (both included but you need to be certified) and one of the most amazing shipwrecks if not the best shipwreck in the Red Sea.

Day 7: Lake Assal and Capstone in stone

We head to visit Lake Assal and discover the geology of the area. We break for lunch as La Faille camp, and spend the afternoon the volcanic zone before terminating the tour in Djibouti City dropping off at a spot of your choice.
