Olumo Rock Day Tour from Lagos

From USD $158.00
  • Duration: 1 Days (approx.)
  • Location: Abeokuta, Ogun
  • Product code: olumoday

Olumo Rock, a rocky outcrop located in the ancient city of Abeokuta, Ogun State, is one of the most popular attractions in Nigeria. It's known as the founding site of the city which once served as a natural fortress during inter-tribal warfare in the 19th century. Over the years, the site welcomed tourists, locals, rulers, and religious leaders for different purposes such as spiritual functions, historical and academic research, tourism, and so much more.

Upon arrival, we will visit an in-site mini-museum where you can appreciate local art and craft. Then, explore through large rocks while your guide tells you more about the history and mysteries of the fortress. On the way up, you'll see shrines, sacred trees, tribal war-time hideouts, and water dripping from the rocks which are believed to have healing properties.

Upon reaching the top, you will be rewarded by unbeatable views of Abeokuta, with its sea of red roofs with green vegetation backdrop. Soak in the beauty and make sure to take lots of photos before heading back down and enjoying some local lunch.

Tour ends with a transfer back to Lagos.
