Formerly known as Maroko, a slum area in Lagos State, before it was destroyed by the government, Lekki is now a rich abode for celebrities, entertainers, and high-ranked local politicians. The city is still largely under construction but thanks to the recent developments, it's come far from what it was before.

Despite all the improvements, Lekki has given importance and retained its cultural and natural attractions. Today, we will visit two of its highlights: Nike Centre for Art and Culture and Lekki Conservation Center.

Start your Lekki tour by getting to know Nigeria's most important artist, Nike Okundaye, at the enormous Nike Centre for Art and Culture. Nike Center is a well-equipped magnificent 5-story white-coated edifice that speaks volume of Nigerian contemporary art and traditions. Soak up the unique local art and if you're lucky, you can even meet Nike herself.

Then, immerse yourself in nature at Lekki Conservation Centre. Here, you can climb above the trees on the longest canopy walkway in all of Africa. Operating for 20 years now, this conservation center is also home to monkeys, rare birds, tortoises, peacock, and many more.
