Working Itinerary (Ask us for custom cruises in the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz)

Day 1 - Al Khobar/Dammam to Al Aqir Silk Road Port

Today we tour the oil museum in the morning and the Love Market in Dammam and the shimmering kaleidoscopic souks before they begin to bustle, head to the ancient Silk Road Trade Port Al Aqir, on the Persian Gulf Coast, the single oldest structural remnant in Arabia for the silk road between China, Iraq and Mesopotamia, and the Arabian Deserts overland. The port was active in about 1000 BC, and echos the trade of today that remains vital for the world's industry and productivity.

The port according to the university nearby oversaw the march and sailoff of "conquests of the Islamic army legions that conquered places in India, Persia and stretching to the outskirts of the Chinese empire, as such it was also one of oldest trade routes and commercial centers associated with Al-Mashqar and Hajr markets." We take in also some of the sites and culture of Al-Ahsa region in Saudi as well as Dammam and Al-Khobar on today's trip. We overnight in Al Ahsa

Day 2 - Al Ahsa and the Mountains of Hofuf

Al Ahsa, in the Eastern Province of KSA, is a sultry oasis in the Arabian Desert overland. An easy day tour from Dammam, the trip is an excellent diversion from the scorching seas to the verdant garden of Eastern KSA. You will wander old architecture and rock caves, gaze at great geology and greenery in an otherworldly setting, and admire the artesian springs and riverine dunes around this diamond in the rough desert.

We reach Al Ahsa Oasis and walk the mountains and some of the dunes surrounding the city before touring the wells and canals that make such verdant food production possible. We head into some of the old architecture in the core city streets, and end on a lakeside before stopping to try snacks or even lunch or dinner (not included) at the palatial IHG in town, before overnighting in the oasis.

Day 3 - Persian Gulf Sailing and remote desert beach camping

Today we sail into the sweltering sea and fish and watch the contours of the land, camping on a remote beach tonight and dining on bbq fish and enjoying Arabian tales! - Maybe not 1,001 of them, but at least a few good ones.

Day 4 - Sail back to town
Today we sail back to the hypermodern city of Dammam after sailing and exploring the maritime center of the world of petroleum, the Persian Gulf, and watch for birdlife and marine life, and call back into port where we will disembark and transfer you to town to a place of your choice.
