The capital of Nigeria's Delta State, Asaba is strategically located on a hill at the western edge of the majestic River Niger. The city has served as a top destination for visitors from around the world and they are not going to have a shortage of places to see and things to do. From beaches, game reserves to historic and cultural establishments, Asaba is perfect for holiday seekers of all ages.

What to Expect

The tour will start the tour from your hotel or chosen location within the city. The first stop is the Lander Brothers Anchorage, a museum built in memory of the British explorers Richard and John Lander of the Niger who were taken captive by the Igbos in 1830. The museum houses the boat they used, artworks, and writings detailing their numerous exploits in Africa.

From here, we continue to the Mungo Park House and learn more about the rich Nigerian culture, the history behind the great river which gave Nigeria its name - the Niger River, its source, and the role Mungo Park played in the discovery of the river.

Then, head to Ibusa town to explore the Okpuzu Falls. The water can be warm or cold depending on the weather and is an ideal place for picnicking, swimming, and enjoying natural views. There's a chance to encounter some wildlife and endemic flora during your visit.

After the waterfalls, return to Asaba at the Rodinia Restaurant (or similar) for late lunch.
