A little-known archipelago located between Madagascar and Mozambique, the Comoros is a group of islands with a unique charm. Unlike its better known Indian Ocean sisters Mauritius and the Seychelles, the Comoros remained seemingly impervious to mass tourism, and that is precisely what makes it more appealing to travelers.

On this multiday tour, expect hours of lounging on pristine beaches, swimming in turquoise blue waters, and days of pure tropical paradise bliss.

Day 1: Arrival at Moroni

Arrive at the Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport where the driver will be welcoming you and transferring you to your *accommodation. Once you've settled in, get ready for an amazing afternoon tour around Moroni, the capital of Grande Comore which is the largest of the three islands in the country.

*Golden Tulip & Spa or similar

Day 2: Moroni Full Day City Tour

What better way to start your first full day in the Comoros than with a sumptuous breakfast, right? Thankfully, your hotel offers a variety of local and international cuisines on their buffet breakfast menu.

Led by your guide, Fill yourself in with the rich history of the capital as you continue your city tour. Visit an old sultan place built in the 18th century then take a leisurely walk in the Medina, the historic town center. Stroll through an absolute maze of narrow alleyways and pass by old unrestored ornate wooden and stone buildings, sans flocks of tourists and souvenir shops.

Proceed to the National Museum of Comoros where you will find an array of interesting photos and artifacts relating to the island's history as well as its rich flora and fauna. Then, wander around the Volo Volo Market, meet the friendly locals and score some fresh goods. Continue to the Marabou Lake and enjoy the view of the Coelacanth Marine Park before heading back to your hotel in Moroni.

Day 3: Mount Karthala and the rest of Southern Grande Comore

On your third day on the island, travel to the southern half of Grande Comore which is dominated by Mount Karthala, one of the most active in the world. In 2005, the volcano erupted twice, affecting over 200,000 residents of the island. Today, the volcanic influence is obvious around the island, showcased by trails of volcanic rocks snaking down the slopes and black rocks that make gorgeous beach of Chomoni so special.

After breakfast, travel through the idyllic countryside, visiting vast plantations and peaceful fishing villages. Take a step back in history at Itsandra, a town near the water which was once the ancient capital of the island. Continue to the slopes of Mount Karthala, soaking in the view of Bahani below, before proceeding to the high plateau of Diboini where you can view the Comoros' seven extinct volcanoes.

Then, pay a quick visit to the agricultural cooperative at Mbeni, where you will be welcomed by the locals (and their lemurs), and let you experience their traditional folk dances

After half a day of exploring, enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch under the shade of palm trees and on the white sand of Buoni. You will then proceed to the viewpoint of the Dos du Dragon (Dragon’s Back), a series of rock formations the looks uncannily like the imaginary spikes on a dragon’s back. Across the curving peninsula where the rocks stand tall is the view of the Île Aux Tortues (Turtle Island), another wonder to behold.

Next stop is Lac Sale, a "bottomless" volcanic salt lake surrounded by luscious greenery that's believed to heal skin diseases. Before the day ends, you will visit the Ylang Ylang distillery and the mangroves and Baobab bottles at Domoni.

Day 4: Moroni - Moheli

Check out at your Moroni hotel and catch and early flight to Mohéli Bandar Es Eslam Airport. Your driver will be waiting for you and transport you to your *chosen hotel.

*Hotel accommodation at own cost

Day 5 & 6: Moheli

After a few days of guided trips around Grand Comore, it's about time for some unescorted exploration of Moheli Island.

The smallest and least populated of the Comorian islands, it is not unexpected that Moheli is also the most unspoiled one. The island boasts forested slopes and an immense marine national park fringing the southern coast.

Laze on the island's alluring, almost deserted beaches all day while sipping on your refreshing piña colada. If you're feeling a little adventurous, go on a trip to Itsamia, a village on the southern tip of the island where you are virtually guaranteed to see turtles. And, while you're at it, why not kick it up a notch and swim with dozens of dolphins and humpback whales? During the months of late July to October, humpback whales stopover on their way to the colder waters in Antarctica. With the healthy underwater world of the island, sightings of manta rays and dugongs while scuba diving is also not very unusual.

Day 7: Moheli - Anjouan

After half a day in Moheli, it's time to pack your bags and say goodbye to the island. Catch a plane that will take you to the third Comorian island, Anjouan. Arrive in the island capital Mutsamudu in the afternoon and settle in at your *hotel.

*Hotel Al Amal or similar

Day 8: Anjouan

Kick-off the day with breakfast at your hotel then join your guide on a full-day excursion on the island. Dubbed as the "Pearl of the Comoros," Anjouan Island offers authentic and relaxing Comorian culture with a blend of Arab, African and French influences.

Enjoy a stroll around Mutsamudu to see historical citadels and head on to the valley of Col de Patsy and the picturesque Tatringa Falls. Then, visit the Mongoose Lemur, a small primate native to Madagascar and the Comoros Islands. The last stop for the day is Domoni, the second-largest city in Anjouan, where you'll find the mausoleum of the late president Ahmed Abdallah, the father of independence in the Comoros.
