ITINERARY


Day 1: Arrival in Ndjamena

Upon arrival to Ndjamena, you will be picked up from the port and transferred to Chez Wu Hotel for check-in and rest. There you will receive a briefing on your tour.

Day 2 - 4: Ndjamena – Mongo area (1260 KM)

Depart to the Sahel and Montaigne area of Mongo. Drive cross the alluvial plains and get to Massaguet. After the village of Bitkine and Ab Touyour with its “mountain with vulture”, we get to Guera, a Sahel and mounts area.

Here live the “Hadjerai” (inhabitants of stone country” that are farmers and hunters. We will visit villages with small colorful markets.

We continue through vast savannah plains to Mongo, located on the massif of Aboutelfane (mont Guerra, 1500m), then head towards Oum Hadjer through the succession of hills and green valleys. We arrive in Abeche, capital of Ouaddai, was a former shopping center, at the crossroads of caravan and for centuries, a large slave market.

From there, we move to the north of Ennedi. The landscape becomes increasingly desert; people gradually change sedentary farmers to nomad pastoralists. After Arada, a sandy track leads us to Kalaït.

Day  5 - 10:  (Archei area and its rock paintings -  Gueltas) – the Great arch

We continue to the North – East and after a 100 Km we get to the complex hydrographic system of the river Archei, a true gateway.  

Go on short walks and drive to explore the most spectacular areas of Ennedi where the semi nomadic Gaeda, Tama and Zagawa live.

Observe the the huge green corridor that delimits the tassili formations with incredible beauty: castles, cathedrals, arches; all is gigantic. At the great Guelta Archei, it is common to meet the Toubou nomads and their huge herds of camels and see the last living crocodile of the Sahara. At these incredible shows can be added the discovery of some rock paintings mostly unknown. Our road led us to Fada, capital of the region for administrative formalities and to refill the tanks.

Exploration of the great arch of aloba- the backikele cliff. The vast ennedi massif is rich in explendid vestige that nature and wind have drawn and built. Several cliffs and caves but especially labyrinths lost between the rocky ones.

The multitude cave paintings and also the artistic production of our famous and crazy artist who nature.

The sixth edition of the Saharan festival to the sound of songs and dances with camel races will be held in Amjarass city of the presiding Deby several cultural activities to go but also visit the heart of the wealth of plateau of ennedi.

Day 11-14 Crossing the plain and the area of Bahar Ghazel – 530 Km

A very long drive but with interesting stops at water points of pastoral and nomadic Toubou and Kereda. Multitudes herds of camels and cows are present for the morning chore of valiant breeders, sometimes accompanied by their children.

The return via Abeché, will allow us to find the people of the ouaddai but also a stopover in Zakouma to appreciate its animal park. A fruit of garnde richness of Chadian fauna and flora. 2 nights at cam tinga. At the end transfer via mongo to Ndjamena. Shower room and flight.
