Angola is quite known for its Megalithic sites and rock art. These historic sites are not often on the average traveler's list while in Angola. Though this tour includes many common and wonderful sites of Angola such as Kalandula Falls, Black Rocks, and the capital city, we have also included some megaliths for those who would like to dive into some ancient history and have the chance to explore plenty of Angolan countryside. 

A chance to visit these iconic monuments can really give you a glimpse into the past and a feel of this historic cultures of the time. 

Over the next 12 days, you will experience a lot of driving. Not only does this allow for some incredible landscapes, but it also allows those you to travel to the lesser traveled areas of the country and an abundance of chances for incredible photo ops!


Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive at Luanda airport and be transferred to the Epic Sana Hotel 

Day 2: From Luanda this morning, guests will travel to M'Banza Congo (UNESCO), with a stop at the Ship Graveyard. The total driving time today is approximately 6-8 hours. 

Overnight: M'Banza Kongo

Day 3: Today we will fly from M'Banza Kongo back to Luanda where guest will partake in a Luanda city tour.  (Flights currently on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).

Overnight: Epic Sana

Day 4: This morning we will drive from Luanda to Malanje where we will visit Kalandula Falls. 

The Kalandula Falls, located in Malanje province inside Angola, are 105 meters high and are considered one of the largest waterfalls by volume in Africa. This major waterfall is powerful and impressive since it's surrounded by scenic landscapes to match, great grasslands, and spanning savannas. 

Overnight: Pousada das Quedas de Calandula

Day 5: Visit Pungo Andongo (Black Stones) and Pedro Quissongo. The drive today will be approximately 6-8hours.

Malanje is a remote region of Angola full of beautiful and historic scenery such as the Black Rocks, generally known as Piedras Negras. The Black Rocks are a series of the giant mysterious rock formation shaped in the forms of animals in the Savanna. 

Overnight: Fazenda (Quibala)

Day 6: From Quibala this morning guests will begin their journey to Huambo. Total driving time today will be approximately 6-8 hours.

Overnight: Ekuikui Hotel

Day 7: Today we will visit Moma rocks and make our way to Lubango. Total driving time is approximately 4-6 hours today.

Overnight: Lubango

Day 8: Quilengues and Txipopilu Petroglyphs and the opportunity to visit and interact with the Mumuila Tribe.

Overnight: Lubango

Day 10: An early morning this morning as guests make their way to Namibe where they will visit Tshitundu Hulo rocks, and tribes of Oncocua  Driving duration today will be approximately 6 hours.

Overnight: Desert Lodge (Lona Reserve)

Day 11: Sumbe and Sassa Caves - total driving duration is 12 hours today.

Overnight: Sumbe (Ritz Hotel)

Day 12: From Sumbe today we will make our way back to Luanda, which is about a 5-hour drive. Once we arrive in Luanda guests will be transferred to the airport for their flight out.

End of tour.
