La Digue is the third largest island of Seychelles. The island is packed with history and culture, offering remnants of the first settlers with a history that stretches back over 200 years.

To some, La Digue can seem like a town frozen in time. The atmosphere of the island is extremely laid back and welcoming. The preferred mode of transportation on here is bicycle only adding to the calmness of the island. The island has a sort of charm that is not found in many places these days. It is a wonderful place to explore, relax, and enjoy the present.

Itinerary - Available Monday through Saturday:

This morning you'll be picked up around 9 am from your accommodation on Praslin. Pick up is available on other islands at an additional cost.

As we arrive into La Digue's quaint and very picturesque harbor we will begin our tour through the village of La Passe. La Passe village is home to the majority of people who live here and hosts a beautiful little harbor. The island boasts an incredible amount of Creole architecture including sites such as L'Union Estate and the Copra Mill.

L'Union Estate is an incredible open air museum that hosts one of the last working Copra Mills in Seychelles. Copra, which means dried coconut, is ground down and pressed to make high-quality coconut oil. Fun fact - the mill's coconut press remains ox powered to this day. The Estate also acts as an entrance to incredible Anse Source d'Argent  - the most photographed beach in the world!

Creole architecture, very abundant on La Digue, is mainly characterized by large double doors and windows, as well as high peaked rooves, to allow for ventilation and lighting. Creole architecture dates back to the colonial era and is something to really appreciate. There are many examples of these types of buildings being torn down due to wear and tear, however, there are many working to protect and restore as much of the history as possible before it is too late.

From the renowned architecture and copra mill to the old boatyard, the entire island of La Digue offers a glimpse into the rich history of the Seychelles Islands.

Our next stop, Anse Source d'Argent! The beach is sheltered by a reef and as a result, offers very calm and shallow waters. With its gigantic granite boulders, its perfect white sand beach, and breathtaking beauty it is no wonder this beach holds the title of most photographed beach in the world. It is not unheard of for travelers to want to stay at this beach forever!

** The beaches on the island are epic for snorkeling or swimming! If you decide you want to take a peek under the water, you're invited to bring your own snorkel gear.

Once we have taken in as much as we can of this beautiful, turquoise island, we will make our way back to where we began the tour around 6 pm.

End of tour.
